My love of light, the world and capturing a moment in time draws me to the medium of photography. In my early years I found the solitude of the darkroom as a source of meditation and creativity and shot most images in black and white. As the years passed and my love of travel lead to three trips around the world with an emphasis on the Asian continent, I was enamored and enticed by the colorful displays of art and culture that danced before my eyes – from a woman seeking purification in her ornate sari at the banks of the holy Ganges in India to a courtyard full of saffron-robed monks debating Buddhism at Sera Monastery in Tibet.
My innate ability to connect with people of all ages enables me to keep my work unique and personal.
After much resistance and an attachment to my flim SLR Canon, I also shoot with
a digital SLR Canon 40D and offer both options for clients. None of the fine art
images have been photoshopped. I use a Nikon Coolscan V to load in each film
negative and then use Apple’s Aperture program to organize and store them.
The only altering I've done thus far, if needed, is cropping and light adjustment to coordinate with my Epson archival printer.
Namaste, Kiki
