Boston Dog Photographer ~ LHK9 Rescue Event at the Garment District

In case you didn’t hear, I wasn’t one of the Powerball winners last week. If I had, this is what I would be photographing every day: rescue dogs looking to find their forever homes. And this recent Last Hope K9 event on Sunday at the Garment District was a fun one. I was thrilled to go back to my old stomping grounds in Kendall Square and hit up The Friendly Toast for some post shoot grub. And of course the store provided an eclectic backdrop for shots from a fire hydrant by the bathroom doors to the “Pay by the Pound” scale for buying second hand clothes by weight. I only wish we had more time to get even more creative! Big thanks to Amanda who volunteered her Sunday to assist me on the photo shoot too. From carrying all my gear to a (failed) attempt at getting Jack in a purple beret (anything for that cute shot that will get him adopted), she rocked it.

So here are some sweet pooches in need some serious love and a new place to call home. First up is Brandi who greeted us with smiles and a wagging tail when we first walked up the stairs to the second floor. She is an eleven month old pit mix with a heart of gold. So happy too with all the attention and so good with everyone she met throughout the afternoon. You can see her here doing her best to win over a potential adopter. Total sweetheart.

Here’s tiny, tiny little Tinsley a 4-5 month old chihuahua mix weighing it at about four pounds. Of course we had to have fun with this. And her little paw up while posing outside? Adorable.

Next we have Adira who is a Pit/Boxer Mix and is two years old. Ida wasn’t her foster but knew her well and helped us get her beautiful portraits. It took just a minute or so for her to get to know you but, once she did, she was your best friend. I mean a complete kissing machine. And so photogenic.

Poppy, a 9-12 month lab mix, volunteered to be the doggie of the day photographed in front of the LHK9 Rescue Event sign. We then headed outdoors from some fresh air for her pretty portraits.

Brace yourself for this little heartbreaker. Skye Blue is a 1.5 year old catahoula mix whose recovering from a hip surgery so she had me at “Hello.” Those eyes. They are so intense that she looks sad in most of the photos but in reality she was really just a sweet little thing that wanted to curl up and get some love while on your lap. Beautiful markings and just felt like an old soul.

Last we have Jack a 1.5 year old Terrier Mix. After those aforementioned failed attempts to try to get a cute beret on him (outtake below) and some on the iconic Garment District subway car (he did not fancy that either), we popped out side for his portraits. Big thanks too to Michaela, his awesome foster Mom, who stayed past the end of the event at 2PM so we could get these. So many dogs! So little time!

So there you have it! Another great event by LHK9. I take these photos to help get them adopted. If you see a dog here perfect for you or someone you know, please contact Last Hope and get and application in the works. Please “Share” or “Like” this post for more exposure too! Let’s get these pups home.

Thank you to the Garment District for hosting. It really was such a pleasure to be back and to have such a cool place to shoot.
