Boston Dog Photography ~ Dog Day at Fenway Park

Happy Fourth of July! Summer is in full swing and most definitely my favorite season in New England – warm weather, long days and the studio is busier than ever. Last Monday we had a Beauty + Bubbles Session midday and right after wrapping that up, I switched out my cards and batteries and headed into town for Dog Day at Fenway. I had volunteered to photograph more of the adoptable dogs at my favorite Boston Rescue, Last Hope K9, and had no idea what to expect. As I rounded the corner on Landsdowne Street at Gate E, I saw the long line of dogs and their owners as far as the eye could see – many adorned in full Red Sox regalia. Inside the park the parade continued down onto the field and around the perimeter of the iconic stadium. Photo ops were endless from the dugouts to the infamous Green Monster. If you are a dog lover and a Red Sox fan, this is not a day to be missed. Although my main focus was of course on the six new LHK9 dogs, I’ve added a few photographs here too including a really fun group portrait of a friend who was there with several of her friends with their dogs too. Seven people. Six dogs. All looking at the camera. Classic. And so fun. Happy Summer everyone and Go Sox!

First up from LHK9 is five month old Gilda who is a pointer mix (and, yes, her sitting on the fifth row step was intentional.)

Next meet Lilac. She’s two years old and is also a pointer mix. She was so easy to photograph. Such a good girl and these are some of my favorite images of the day. Those bat ears. Too much.

Gustavo is a 7 month old Min Pin and Chihuahua mix. He’s a ball of energy but so sweet. He’s photographed here with his foster Mom, Tara, and the portrait of them both looking off is not posed. They are both just naturals. And I am in love with this image.

This next dog is a very sad story. Sweetie Pie was a puppy mill surrender who has lived her first five years in hell. She was just left at the shelter down south without any information or paperwork. They used her up and left her. Foster mom Aimee told me she probably was in one with only metal floors. She’s obviously shy at first and even a bit awkward when held as she’s not had this type of interaction. But Aimee said she just loves to snuggle up to you and be pet. She’s a full breed chihuahua who is more than deserving and ready for a new and loving forever home.

And here is another shy one. Poor, sweet little DiMaggio whose a nine month old Pit Bull Terrier Mix. He was understandably so overwhelmed at all that was going on at the event. It was overwhelming for me so I can’t imagine how he felt. I was unable to take him for some photographs in the park but did manage to get a few of him up by the event table where he could be close to his foster mom, Alice. I can’t emphasis enough what a doll he his. I have photographed so many pit bulls and it’s so unjust how they get discriminated against.

And last but not least is little Tiber who is the most adorable dachshund and chihuahua mix. He got a deposit today for his adoption and new Mom, Doreen, and big sister, Linda, could not have been more thrilled to find him. And it was so fun to photograph them in the dugout. New name? You guessed it. Fenway!
