Happy New Year from KLP ~ Newburyport Family and Portrait Photographer

What. A. Year.
Barely able to catch my breath over here at the studio. Not much time to reflect on 2014 as 2015 is already booking up and underway. But hopefully you caught some glimpses along the way via the Blog and/or some Social Media postings these past twelve months. I revisited some of my favorite sessions and selected a few highlights from KLP Portraits and Weddings and created a video slideshow that aptly sums up just how amazing it’s been. Check it out here.

Now Day One of 2015: Entered a couple of my favorite photographs of the year into two of Rangefinder Magazine’s 2015 Competitions. First is their “STORYTELLERS: Lifestyle Photography Competition” and, while I had a few top images in mind, this shot taken this past Fall out in Western Seattle is what I decided to submit. It’s the story of the Modern Day Family. And I love it because although it is posed, it captures the essence of the world we live in and could be any family on any bench in any city.

And as a previous winner of the “BEST FRIENDS: The Ultimate Animal Photography Contest” in 2013 (Animal Humor Category) and a HUGE animal/dog lover, I decided I’d submit to this one again this year too. So many Dog Portraits from 2014 that I love, but this shot — “Expecting Julian” — is a top contender. Another story in the making. After an In Studio Maternity Session, we headed out into Downtown Newburyport to capture a few lifestyle shots. And this moment just happened. It’s one of the images when you click the shutter you just know you nailed it. KikiLarougeNewburyportPhotographers IMG_9327

And while I don’t generally post or blog about my Commercial gigs,  Arborpoint Luxury Apartments at Market Street in Lynnfield are currently featuring this image shot for part of a Lifestyle Project KLP worked on for them this fall. It’s currently up on the billboard at Exit 43 on Rt128/95. While not nearly as cool as the new Gronk billboards, you can still honk when you pass by it. 😉

New Year’s KLP Resolutions: Blog more. Fill up the calendar with Beauty + Bubbles Contemporary Portrait Sessions and continue to show women just how amazing they are. And this coming year will also feature a monthly (or bi-monthy!) Newsletter – from “KLP on the Road” to Studio Events – so drop me a note with your email if you’d like to be added to the list.

The studio’s got three more Portrait Sessions (two Beauty + Bubbles and a Family Home for the Holidays) this weekend and then I head out to South America for five weeks on January 12th. Flying to Peru and trekking the Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu to start. Then doing what I love most – playing it by ear. Maybe Iquitos for the Peruvian Amazon? Or the North Coast from some surfing? Or bordering countries Ecuador or Bolivia? New passport arrived and ready for another KLP Adventure. I don’t bring a laptop on these sojourns but you can follow some of the adventures on the KLP Instagram and Facebook Feeds.

So stay tuned. And endless abundance of Thank You’s to all the KLP clients and fans out there both near and far. Yes. It’s been a great year and I can’t wait to kick it up another notch in 2015.

With gratitude,

Kiki
